Meredith (Merrie) Warden, MD, MPH

Family Planning Fellow

Biosketch:

Merrie Warden is a Fellow in Family Planning at UCSF. Prior to medical school, she worked as the Research Coordinator and Clinic Manager for the Center for Reproductive Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she later went to medical school. As a medical student, she was an Albert Schweitzer Fellow, where her service project involved intensive contraceptive counseling and follow up for women seeking abortion. She then trained at UCSF for residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology where she was awarded the Julius R Krevans award for Clinical Excellence. Merrie's resident research project was a randomized controlled trial assessing the impact of a telephone intervention on contraceptive continuation after abortion. Her fellowship research project is a qualitative study evaluating the contraceptive decision making process for women seeking abortion.

  • Patient contraceptive decision-making in the abortion and post-abortion setting
  • Provider contraceptive counseling in the abortion setting
  • Contraceptive counseling for women with complex medical problems, including coordination of reproductive health care with services beyond Ob/Gyn
