JOB OVERVIEW
New Generation Health Center (NGHC) provides high-risk adolescents and young adults an array of family planning and reproductive health services. The Clinic Coordinator directly reports to the Center Manager and is responsible for overseeing daily clinic workflow and coordination. Maintaining optimal patient flow is an essential element of NGHC standards of care and best practices for optimal clinic operations. The individual will conduct a range of clinic coordination activities including hiring, training, and assigning work, coordinating health education staff and provider scheduling and daily duties, overseeing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Practice Management (EPM), and identifying and implementing ways to maximize the clinic’s efficiency and the patient experience. 

The position is responsible for triaging patients, providing support to clinicians as needed, conducting patient follow-up regarding lab results, overseeing inventory, and reviewing patient charts to ensure proper charting and billing has been completed. The Clinic Coordinator will provide direction and delegate tasks to medical support staff who conduct a diversity of clinic responsibilities including counseling, front desk, and laboratory. By coordinating the medical support staff and working with clinicians, the Clinic Coordinator is to ensure the delivery of high quality clinical care in an efficient manner. Importantly, New Generation Health Center is a training and research site, in additional to a clinical care site, thus the position requires a flexible individual, who is able to multi-task, is an excellent problem solver, and has a broad range of interests.

  • BA/BS in health related discipline and three years of experience in health care field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience using electronic health records (EMR) and practice management (EPM) system
  • Experience working in a medical setting and problem solving medical practice flow issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in computer software such as Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Knowledge of reproductive health issues and dedication to reproductive rights
  • Past experience overseeing staff scheduling and coordinating staff duties
  • Experience overseeing inventory and clinical practice logs
  • Experience performing front desk and medical assisting duties in busy clinic setting
  • Experience providing reproductive health counseling
  • Experience coordinating and supervising diverse staff
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to work as part of a team & independently
  • Flexible schedule. Ability to travel occasionally to attend trainings, conferences, and business meetings

  • Experience with Nextgen software
  • Past experience managing clinic operations
  • Familiar with community resources for adolescents and young adults. Experience providing referralsBilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with high-risk urban youth and young adults
  • State Phlebotomy certified or willing to under-go training in order to become licensed
